Game Designer and Scripter
Many of my friends live in the Seattle area which has a very good music scene. These are some of the bands I got to check out in concert.
Surprisingly dance-able punk. Your inner rebellious youth needs more of whatever they are doing. Really awesome surprise find. I was a little obsessed with them. They are currently on an indefinite haitus, but
Interpol
A great show, a very... transcendental experience? Sure, let's go with that.
M83
I'm a sucker for bright flashing neon lights, and these guys put on a good show. My friends and I almost died getting crushed in a crowd, but it was worth it.
LIGHTS
Probably the best artist you haven't heard of yet. If you like pop music; definitively check her out.She has 2 albums out and her most recent album completely bucked a sophomore slump, with a dirtier more dub-step sound from her first album. Also caught an acoustic show in at the Neptune, there is a lot of skill behind her pop veneer.
The Hives
The garage band that needs no introduction! Their live show has so much energy.Actually met some girls from the LIGHTS concert here; didn't really think there was much of a cross over in fans.
Bloc Party
They really know how to do a great show.I was gonna take someone out to this show but they flaked; apparently though all my friends are Bloc Party fans so we all met up during the opening band's set. It was a pretty awesome turn of events.
FIDLAR
Need to see them again, their instruments broke last time. They are kind of like old Green Day; but that's a rough comparison.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
They killed it, so glad they came out to the west coast.
The Young Evils
Definitely different than what I would expect from Seattle, but that's a good thing. Kind of have this surfer punk vibe (seems totes hip on the Seattle scene right now)
The Grizzled Mighty
A girl on drums and a guy on guitar. It's good, they do some good shows. I hear they are recording a good album.
Mudhoney
So Seattle they sang on top of the Space Needle. Killer show. Been here forever. Wouldn't have it any other way. (psst. These guys opened for Nirvana)
Lusine
This guy, his set was patient, I found this intriguing. kinda this ambient/experimental electronic sound. Very approachable sound.
Hobosexual
A 'pure rock and roll band', definitely a must see.
TacocaT
A palindrome and also a band. Kinda totes that surfer punk sound.
P.S. I totally didn't accidentally ask out my friend's girlfriend to there Valentines day to this concert...
Reignwolf
This guy is a jazz/metal combo that is unexpectedly accessible.Basically this guy teaches the devil how to play the guitar. His shows are something amazing. You need to be there.
Pocket Panda
Folk, and good folk at that. Had a friend do some media work with the band.
Sebastian and the Deep Blue
Soul infused orchestral indie pop. Just give it a listen.
Games are my one true love and passion; but to craft experiences you must have experiences. So I like to have a taste of a diverse range of activities (I've been scuba diving, backpacking in the Pacific North West, and seen some of Europe). However, on this 'back page' I'm gonna share with you the music and concerts I have enjoyed over the years.
